Treatments
My treatments range from classical physiotherapy and remedial gymnastics to a broad range of massage types to improve chronical as well as acute pains and illnesses.
Another focus point of my work – unfortunately not spread wide on Lanzarote yet / is the treatment of children and babies with severe respiratory diseases such as mucoviscidosis and COPD. Three decades of experience, on-going education and numerous further trainings don’t only make me feel safe and confident in my ability to help you, but will also provide the best possible treatments for you as a patient. For those of you who don’t suffer but just want to release a little soreness after their training or seek pure relaxation and well-being, I recommend a wellness massage or deep tissue full body massage.
For detailed information on the treatments I offer, please read the descriptions below.
Postural and musculoskeletal disorders, especially if they are caused by disorders of the brain, require very complex treatment, often months, sometimes years, which should start as early as possible. With the Vojta method, a therapy was developed for these clinical pictures that has become an indispensable part of modern physiotherapy in orthopaedics, neurology and paediatrics. "Normal" movement sequences such as grasping, standing up and running are not primarily learned, practiced and trained. Rather, Vojta Therapy stimulates the brain to activate “innate, stored movement patterns” and to export them as coordinated movements into the trunk and limb muscles. With the so-called reflex movement, Vojta has developed a method that makes elementary movement patterns accessible again, at least in some areas, even in people with damaged central nervous systems and musculoskeletal systems. To do this, the therapist exerts targeted pressure on certain areas of the patient's body in the prone, back and side position. In people of all ages, this stimulus "reflexively" leads to two complexes of movement, which contain all the "building blocks" of human locomotion: "reflex crawling" and "reflex turning around". These movement complexes can be activated independently of the patient's will.
In contrary to adults, rheumatic diseases are mostly inflammation-based in children. Today, the chronic joint inflammation is most common and is therefore called juvenile chronic arthritis. The symptoms are very diverse regarding location, complications, treatment recommendations and prognosis.
The earlier the first symptoms are treated, the better are the chances to avoid degradation. The main aim is to keep the full movement of joints and avoid defective joint positions while the treatment has to be constantly adjusted to age and condition of the young patients. The therapist has to win trust and treat the children painlessly and according to children's needs, i.e. with a caring and soft therapy that reduces muscle spasms, with stretchings and exercises that improve the movement of joints and a general understanding of "right course of motions".
A genetic defect is the reason for mucoviscidosis - you can only treat and reduce the symptoms, the function disorder of lung and pancreas. The thick mucus is characteristic, it leads to stasis or secretions and is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria - which results in respiratory infections. By the help of physiotherapy especially developed for CF patients, this causal loop can be stopped. Special breathing patterns, a mobilization of the thorax and stretching exercises to strengthen and lengthen the repiratory muscles are of great importance. They can help to release the mucus and cough it out and they can considerably improve the function of the lungs. The exchange of gas in the lung can be leveled or even raised, which means a better quality of life for the patient. Self-cleaning methods can be taught by the therapist to children and parents alike in a playful way for a daily training at home.
More and more children suffer from various forms of headache - the reasons are as diverse as the choice of treatments. The best thing to do is an exact and comprehensive analysis to get to the root of the problem to develop the right therapy.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics. Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams, practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system.
CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it's effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. Few structures have as much influence over the body's ability to function properly as the brain and spinal cord that make up the central nervous system. And, the central nervous system is heavily influenced by the craniosacral system - the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord.
Every day your body endures stresses and strains that it must work to compensate for. Unfortunately, these changes often cause body tissues to tighten and distort the cranio-sacral system. These distortions can then cause tension to form around the brain and spinal cord resulting in restrictions. This can create a barrier to the healthy performance of the central nervous system, and potentially every other system it interacts with. Fortunately, such restrictions can be detected and corrected using simple methods of touch. With a light touch, the CST practitioner uses his or her hands to evaluate the cranio-sacral system by gently feeling various locations of the body to test for the ease of motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsing around the brain and spinal cord. Soft-touch techniques are then used to release restrictions in any tissues influencing the cranio-sacral system.
By normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhancing the body's ability to self-correct, cranio-sacral therapy is able to alleviate a wide variety of dysfunctions, from chronic pain and sports injuries to stroke and neurological impairment.
What conditions does cranio-sacral Therapy address?
- Migraines and headaches
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Autism
- Stress and tension-related disorders
- Motor-coordination impairments
- Infant and childhood disorders
- Brain and spinal cord injuries
- Chronic fatigue
- Fibromyalgia
- TMJ syndrome

Dorn consists of a range of simple exercises and techniques which aim to help joints and vertebrae slip back into their natural positions using a unique approach which involves the active participation of the client. A range of simple after care exercises are also provided for clients to take away and practise in order to help them benefit over the long term. For example, clients are shown simple, easy to learn short exercises to perform each day to help keep the hip and the lower back in place.
Dorn is a gentle spinal and joint therapy designed to help alleviate back problems and other common health problems caused by a wrongly placed vertebrae or differing leg lengths. It is a non-manipulative therapy which focuses on helping joints and vertebrae slip back into their natural position through self-determined movements of the client. It has its origins in Germany where it is now one of the most widely used therapies for back pain, used by therapists, doctors and other healthcare professionals.
It is a holistic treatment which means other areas may be helped as a consequence of working on the meridian and nerve system of the body, it is free of unpleasant side effects, completely safe and an innocuous treatment. All corrections only happen in a dynamic way, that is, with the client aiding therapy by actively participating with the therapist.
Hypnotherapy is a form of complementary therapy that utilizes the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change to our thoughts, feelings and behavior. The process itself aims to alter our state of consciousness in a way that relaxes the conscious part of the mind while simultaneously stimulating and focusing the subconscious part. This heightened state of awareness - reached using skilled relaxation techniques - allows the therapist to then make appropriate suggestions.
This kind of therapy is used by healers for more than 4.000 years and activates efficiently self-healing-processes within our bodies. Various pains and illnesses may be treated by this method or prevented:
- fear and phobias (e.g. fear of flying, vertigo, exam nerves )
- speech disorder/stammering
- Depression
- addiction and bad habits (smoking, alcohol)
- alimentation problems (also adiposity or aneroxia)
- Stress or problems working up traumatic experiences
- juvenile problems (bed wetting, nail biting and more)
- sleeping problems (diasability to fall a sleep, snoring, teeth grinding)
- behavioural problems (shyness, aggression)
- pain (headache, dorsal pain)
- sexualle problems (impotence, frigidity)
- allergies of various flavours
Hypnotherapy is not a remedy for everything but a method with a great potential for good results without sideeffects.
Before we begin the actual hypnosis, an anamnesis has to take place. I.e. a conversation, where we discuss and define the objectives and procedure of the actual therapy. Only then the therapeut begins with the introduction of hypnosis and makes use of various techniques to induce a trance. The depth of trance-state depends on the treatment and objective.
Basically everyone is hypnotizable, but not against his will, and some clients may need a second try.
Hypnosis requires a high level of confidence between therapist and client. If the subconscious mind does not generate this trust, any hypnosis attempt is doomed to failure.
The assumption that one is anesthetized at a hypnosis is a misapprehension, as well as the assumption that one is completely at the mercy of the therapist. These kind of mistakes are produced by show hypnosis in order to present something sensational.
In the so-called "effect of hypnosis", the actual goal of therapy is developed gradually. This takes place in a manner where the patient generates images and emotions that cause desires, and our subconsciousness strives to realize these ideas. Hypnosis is a more beautiful, relaxing state. After the trance one often feels very relaxed - just after a good night's sleep or a spa treatment. Autogenic training was developed out of hypnosis. The fear that you would not come back from a trance is completely unfounded. Hypnosis will automatically result in falling asleep, if there is no direct inducement to wake up
Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive. Therapeutic kinesiology tape that can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions.
Kinesiology tape is almost identical to human skin in both thickness and elasticity, which allows kinesio tape to be worn without binding, constricting or restriction of your movement. Kinesiology tape is an that is used for treating athletic injuries and a variety of physical disorders. You would have noticed that more and more professional athletes use kinesiology taping improve their sporting performance, prevent injury and allow them to return to sport quicker. Kinesiology Tape may help:
- acute soft tissue injuries
- headache, megrim
- muscle strains
- ligament sprains

The word Lomi Lomi simply means massage. What it is, is a unique healing massage derived from the ancient Polynesians and more specifically the master healers of Hawaii.
To understand the depth of Lomi Lomi massage, it helps to have one of the alternate names for Lomi Lomi in mind, and that is "Loving Hands" massage. The reason for this is that it works gently yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes, totally nurturing the body and, enabling the recipient to relax, give in and simply be. So whilst technique is an important part of the massage and associated healing, much of the work is done by love, with the focus of the practitioner on the client being deep and complete, using loving hands and a loving heart.
This flowing with total energy, using the long continuous, flowing strokes, combined with the very loving touch, relaxes the entire being, assisting in a letting go of old beliefs, patterns and behaviours that cause limitations and which are stored in the cells of our body. People generally think of memory, beliefs, our "programming", as being stored in our head, in our brain.
This is not the case, this memory and other programming is in fact stored in all the cells of our body.
The Hawaiians look at things in terms of energy flow, following the idea that an idea or belief can block energy flow as much as muscle tension can. Lomi Lomi helps release the blockages, whilst at the same time giving the energy new direction. Thus Lomi Lomi is not just a physical experience; it also facilitates healing on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels as well. The Hawaiians view all aspects of the body as one and believe that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual are all part of the "whole" self - when healing is effected on one level, all levels are affected. When harmony is lacking the effect is pain physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. Illness is a state of tension, which leads to resistance which blocks energy movement. Lomi Lomi helps release this and therefore facilitates the road to healing. On the physical level, through Lomi Lomi stress and tension are relieved, blood and lymph flow assisted and the elimination of wastes and toxins stimulated.
